Medieval Severe Style, The Basilica of St. Nazaire and St. Celse, Carcassonne

Consecrated by Pope Urban II in 1096, and built on top of a former Carolingian cathedral. The Basilica of St. Nazarius and Celsus was the Cathdreal of Carcassonne until 1801.

    I visited there as part of the World Youth Day 97 pilgrimage. It is a beautiful and unique place.
